Smoking using pipes and bongs is an experience that you will love. But the experience also gets your piece dirty in the process. Smoking should be done responsibly, which extends to keeping your pieces clean and well maintained. Just imagine yourself wanting a quick smoking session but then finding your pipes and bongs dirty.
Pipes and bongs are prone to resin buildup which subsequently block the air path. This means a dissatisfactory smoking experience in most cases with much harm to your health as well. At KC Smokz, we always advise our customers to clean pipes and bongs regularly to get that experience they desire every time.
Cleaning pipes & bongs isn’t as tiresome as you may think. Just read on further for everything you need to know before cleaning your piece.
For Glass & Acrylic Bongs
Though it’s quite easy to clean glass & acrylic bongs, it does take a lot of patience. Glass and acrylic bongs look uninviting when they get dirty. This may ruin the mood for a good smoking session with your friends when they come over. The only option for you is to be responsible, and clean your borosilicate glass pipe or acrylic piece regularly.
We recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol. It’s one of the best cleaning agents out there. What you need to do first is to get 92% isopropyl alcohol, a ziplock bag, some salt and a Q-tip. There are other ways to clean your piece, which can make things seem too complicated for you. Visit KC Smokz for more details, cleaning agents and to check out our collection of high-quality bongs.
Okay, so let’s get started. Place your piece in the ziplock bag first and then fill the bag up with the alcohol till your piece is fully submerged. Add some salt in before zipping up the bag. Now you just keep it as is, and then let your piece soak it all up. We recommend at least 3 hours for this. After 3 hours, you will notice that the resin buildup has broken down. Start shaking the bag to clean any remnants. The salt acts as an abrasive, and will remove the dirt. Now open the bag, get your piece out and wash it thoroughly with warm water. While washing, take out the Q-tip and buff the surface of the piece. You are done, and your piece will look good as new.
For bongs, you can follow the same procedure with bowl and downstem in place of the pipe. Simply fill the bong with isopropyl alcohol and salt, and plug all holes. Then just shake it up. Rinse with warm water to complete the process.
Silicone Pieces
Silicone bongs are much easier to clean but not with isopropyl alcohol. Alcohol can degrade the material. You can use soap and water instead. If you are patient enough, you can rinse the piece with water and keep it in the freezer while it’s wet. After a few hours, the layer of ice will freeze along with the resin. Just get it out and break down the ice to clear the resin.
