Type

Two types of titanium nails are available, Domed and Domeless nails. The traditional titanium nails are with a dome, and sit on a male inlet adaptor. These traditional nails will not work properly on pipes or rigs without a dome. It is a great option for individual use because no vapor is wasted. The domed sides trap vapors, so vapor is more potent and the attached dome creates a safer way to dab.

Domeless nails are a more recent addition to the dabbing community. They are quickly becoming a popular favorite. It allows for quick dabs and has faster heating compared to domed dab nails. They reduce the risk of burning dab nails. This domeless nail is more intended for experienced dabbers.

Shape/Size

Another factor you need to care about is the size. The common three sizes are 10mm, 14mm and 18mm. If you need a different size, there is an option of universal titanium nail which can fit multiple sizes. Also you need to find out whether your pipe is fitted with a male or female adaptor. Commonly concentrate and oil rigs are more associated with having male inlet adaptors, while more traditional water pipes have a female inlet.

Quality is the main thing in purchasing any product. Both low and good quality products are available in market. In almost all cases price is a deciding factor for quality. Extremely low priced titanium products are commonly made with other metal materials which can cause unwanted contaminants in your hit. Magnet test is a good thing to know the quality of your titanium nail because titanium is not magnetic. If the nail and magnet attract, you can understand that the material is not pure and therefore low quality. Also the color of nail after usage will show quality of the product. Bunch of colors such as green and blue show the presence of some unwanted metal additives.
