From seasoning for the first time use to periodical cleaning, let’s go through the ways to keep your nail intact for joyous dabbing sessions.
Why seasoning is a must?
It is very important that you season your titanium nail correctly before using it for the first time. The brand new nail may have some extra elements on it that were used to make it shiny and attractive. Seasoning your nail will remove these polishes off of the nail’s surface. If you don’t season your titanium nail, it will also impart a slightly metallic taste to your oil or concentrate.
How to season and clean your titanium nails?
Seasoning and cleaning process doesn’t require much further investment other than a little bit of your time. It really takes much effort to keep your nail looking like brand new. Some of the most popular methods to take care of your nail are
With heat:
You only require your rig, a torch, a dabber and your dabbing oil for this process. Place your nail on the joint of your rig. Evenly heat up your nail with the torch, preferably butane until it begins to turn red hot. Put down the torch, using the dabber place your oil or concentrate to the cup of your hot nail, the area you want to be seasoned. Let it cool for a short while, then dab the oil onto it again and repeat this process 3 or more times. And if it is not your first use, you are simply trying to clean it; the quick and easy way to get rid of grease build up on your nail is to just apply a torch to it. Simple and effective, torching is always a viable option.
With water:
For this method you only require a bowl, water, tongs and a torch. Heat your nail as you normally would for a dab, heat it until it is red. With a pair of tongs, place your titanium nail in a bowl filled with water with room temperature. This method is effective in removing the oxidation residue that may build up on your nail over time or from excessive use.
With isopropyl alcohol:
Generally known as rubbing alcohol, ISO or isopropyl alcohol is very efficient in removing the sticky residue left over your nail. ISO is cheap, readily available, and is amazingly effective at removing stains. Just put your titanium nail into this alcohol and let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Another way is to simply rub your nail with a rag or paper towel soaked with rubbing alcohol. No matter which ever method you use, make sure to rinse your nail well after cleaning in order to get rid of any alcohol residue.
