You may hear various names like vape coil, atomizer and atomizer head. Vape coil is one of the most important components of an e-cigarette. In another word, a vape coil is the wire wrapped in a spiral shape around your e-cig wicking material. And it is used for heating the e-liquid in your e-cig. Although widely known as coils, they are technically atomizer heads.

The coil is a component inside the atomizer. An atomizer head contains a coil of thin wire and wicking material and is placed at the bottom of vape tank. The coil connects the positive part of your battery to the negative. When you use your e-cig, the wick is usually saturated in e-liquid; the battery is turned on and heats up the coil. And the coil vaporizes the e-liquid in the wick into vapor. The vapor then travels up trough your clearomizer or tank chimney for inhaling.

Today, there are different types of metal being used for building the coil’s wires, thus determining the final resistance. Kanthal is the traditional one. In addition to it, coil wiring made of nickel-chrome, stainless steel or also titanium is available on the market. The quality of the coil is a main thing for the well operation of your vapor device.

An atomizer head with a higher resistance above 1.0 ohm is generally used at a lower power and are more suited for “regular” vapor production. They use less e-liquid and produces smaller vapor clouds. It’s suited for most of the e-cigs. Whereas an atomizer head with a resistance less than 1.0 ohm is for larger clouds of vapor. It is also referred to as “sub-ohm” and it requires higher power.  Dual Coil 24 Gauge, Twisted 22 Gauge, The Clapton Coil, etc are some best coils for good clouds. It is also important to change the vape coil when the taste of your e-liquid fades. There is packet of replacement coils or atomizer heads are available for your e-cig.
